#1 : Introduction

Introduction

Your introduction to AI and Brainport in less than 15 minutes.

Welcome to this special Brainport Course on AI!

And don't worry: you don't have to be a computer expert or mathematician to take this course. We're going to help you get a good picture of how AI can be applied and what that means for you.

Does the following sound familiar to you?

'With the arrival of artificial intelligence (AI), the world will soon look very different.’

But what is AI?

We asked people in the street.

It turns out the ideas about AI are somewhat diverse.

We're going to help you to get your clear picture of AI in practice. We'll do that using texts, videos, quiz questions and with the help of two personal course instructors. In the next screen we'll introduce them.

May we introduce...

Please meet Jim Stolze (National AI Course) and Carlo van de Weijer (TU/e & Brainport AI Hub).

According to Carlo, AI can offer the region many opportunities.

To give you a good idea of those opportunities, we have a number of assertions for you.

'The advantages of AI in Europe must be for the citizens, not primarily for government or business'

- Hans de Jong (Philips)

AI is not fiction

From the shelf-filler in the supermarket to the radiologist in the hospital: we will all have to deal with AI. In the following chapters, we will look at what the opportunities are for your future. And we stop to consider what AI means in relation to privacy and ethics.

Can't wait to see the rest of the course? You'll need an account.

That's useful because you can always pick up where you left off, even if you stop in the middle of a track.
